A Tour Through LA's Famous Eames House
Inspiration is such a huge part of what we do.
In order to design beautiful spaces that create an environment for inspired living, we need to be constantly exposed to an array of alternative design concepts and styles.
There are many ways to feed inspiration into our daily lives, but one of our favorite outlets is travel.
Recently one of our design team members took a trip to LA, and visited the historic mid-century modern Eames House, built in 1949.
"Walking up to the house was such a surreal moment for me.
This house was something I had admired for so long, and took inspiration from when I was doing my Bachelors of Interior Design.
It was such an incredible experience to see it in person, and take in its timeless architectural beauty." - Goebel says.
"You often hear that modern rooms are too functional, too cold. What would you be doing if you changed the lighting to make it look like pools of light coming into a cave, if you changed the color of the walls, added textures, added other relationships?
If you did this would you be making it less functional? Not at all. It was not functional enough before. This is the same in any diagnostic situation. " - Charles Eames
"The role of the architect, or the designer, is that of a very good, thoughtful host, all of whose energy goes into trying to anticipate the needs of his/her guests - those who enter the building and use the objects in it." - Charles Eames
With the work that we do, we truly try to step into the shoes of our clients, we get to know them, and what their "everyday" looks like.
We take that and then help them create a space that allows them to live their "everyday" to it's fullest potential.
We think about how they will move throughout the space, is it efficient, is it enjoyable?
We create areas for them to marvel at, focal points that draws them in, and allows them to stay for a while.
